In
1958 or 1959, Craig Allison (in red underwear) and
Jack Fleming (in wheelbarrow) had an afternoon radio program called "The
Roadrunner Show." They asked listeners to call WYVE to vote for Craig
or Jack - each vote was a pledge for the caller to donate a pint of
blood during the Bloodmobile visit to Wytheville. The winner got to
ride down Main Street in a wheelbarrow and the loser pushed, dressed
in red underwear. Craig lost by one vote!
