WVYE (1280 AM) is celebrating almost 60 years of service to southwest Virginia. With an estimated 30,000 listeners at any given time, WYVE is ranked the #1 AM station in Virginia. WYVE is an Associated Press affiliate for national news, and Virginia News Network for regional news. We also utilize the Jones True Country format. We have a very strong news department. The local newspaper is published tri-weekly; therefore, the town and county rely on this station for their daily up-to-date information. Programming includes “True Country” 24 hours a day with special emphasis on community information. Morning show host Danny Gordon is an award winning broadcast journalist. If it happens in Southwest Virginia, Danny is on top of it.
Our feature programs keep listeners in Wythe, Smyth, Grayson, Carroll, Pulaski, Tazewell, and Bland counties informed. Our weekday public affairs interviews with local community leaders at 7:15 AM not only keep area residents informed, but gives them programming they can’t get from any other source.
Local high school and basketball round out the programming.
